About Mr. Watkins

Mr Watkins Comes to Johns Creek High School after spending last year at Berkmar High School.  Prior to teaching at Berkmar, Mr. Watkins spent 5 years in Cobb County Schools at both South Cobb and Campbell High School.  During his time in Cobb County, Watkins served as both a Head Boy’s Basketball Coach as well as administrator and Social Studies Teacher.  Mr Watkins attended college at Piedmont College in Demorest, GA where he majored in Broad Field Social Science.  Prior to deciding to become a teacher Mr. Watkins spent time as a men’s college basketball coach at both Piedmont College as well as Truett-McConnell College. Watkins comes from a teaching and coaching family, his father Tony Watkins is the current girls basketball coach at Grayson High School and his brother Tony Watkins Jr. is the current girls basketball coach at Holy Innocents’.

Mr. Watkins believes in an open learning environment in which students are able to feel comfortable in the classroom.  Watkins is extremely enthused to be teaching at Johns Creek High School this school year.

Last summer Mr. Watkins married the love of this life, the now Mrs. Lauren Watkins, who shares his passion for education and students as she teachers at Lambert High School. They reside in Cumming, GA on Lake Lanier and enjoy spending their weekends and summers on the lake.
